mushroom compost


The native soil in the garden is a heavy clay soil which is not free draining. I want to add this organic matter to try to improve the structure of the soil. It is composed mainly of straw, poultry manure, peat and lime. It has been delivered as 'spent' compost and will need to decompose for around a year. I'll spread it in wheelbarrow loads and leave it to sit on the surface. So, a lot of wheelbarrowing...
