frog's camouflage

I nearly stepped on a frog the other day. I didn't see him at first. Something you might expect in grass, or swampy vegetation. They are naturally camouflaged for their normal surroundings. They have been evolving for 265 million years to do this. But this guy blends in perfectly to the concrete headland in my glasshouse. Which means they are still evolving, or I badly need to power hose the floor.

tadpoles

grumpy frog

This frog was very displeased when I disturbed him in the glasshouse. Rather than hop away, he ambled around for a while with a grumpy demeanour. Eventually he hopped away in a disgruntled fashion.

frogs

I came across several frogs while cleaning up leaves and debris around old plants in the glasshouse. They were all noticeably plump and healthy looking. I popped them into an untidy corner to allow them continue their hibernation.
